Aims
Aims
The aim of the 12th West Lothian Scout Group is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as part of our local community, and as members of the national and international communities. We help young people develop skills for life.
The method of achieving the aim of the Group is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, and guided by adult leadership. Fun and adventure is key to Scouting.

Sections
Squirrels
young people aged 4 and 5
Grow and learn through lots of different games and activities
Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to – and they have lots of fun along the way.
The one hour sessions are a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step into being part of Scouts, and they’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too.
Squirrels meet on Friday afternoons from 1.15pm to 2.15pm at Knightsridge Primary School.
Beavers
young people aged 6 to 8
Make new friends and try new indoor and outdoor activities.
Beavers are among our younger members, and generally meet for an hour per week. They enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout sleepover with their friends.
Beavers meet on Tuesdays evenings from 6.15pm to 7.00pm at Knightsridge Primary School.
Cubs
young people aged 8 - 10½
Learn practical skills whilst having adventures with friends.
For Cubs, excitement and adventure are key. Their programme offers a huge variety of activities surrounding areas of fitness, global and beliefs; whilst allowing them to be creative and get involved in their local communities. Cubs are introduced to exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences.
Cubs meet on Tuesday evenings from 7.15pm to 8.45pm at Knightsridge Primary School.
Scouts
young people aged 10½ - 14
Build confidence, resilience and a sense of adventure.
The Scout section aims to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes and to be creative. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and even on international trips.
The Scout Troop meet on Tuesday evenings from 7.15pm to 8.45pm at Knightsridge Primary School.
